Mr. Gibson has over 35 years of professional experience in designing and programming software systems for private sector organizations offering transportation, publishing, healthcare, and scientific solutions to businesses and government clients. He serves as a senior architect and manager of software engineering operations at FACTOR, in addition to serving as a lead developer on complex projects. Currently, Mike is leading the technical work on FACTOR’s efforts to modernize FEMA’s Hazus consequence estimation tool. Mike’s qualifications include detailed knowledge of the entire software development life cycle and advanced software development management methodologies, technical expertise in developing multi-modal transportation industry-specific software applications, and unique talents in formulating multi-parameter GIS network routing algorithms and geospatial data processing routines.

Mike also has extensive experience in GIS and numerous programming languages, with specialization in C++ and C#. Mr. Gibson supported development for one of the first GIS-based software applications used at the Emergency Operations Facility at a nuclear plant and was the lead developer on the Rail Corridor Risk Management System utilized by the US rail industry for managing the risks of dangerous chemical shipments.
